Happy Day MHSPA families!!!

Only 39 more sleeps until Christmas! Oh the excitement, eeeeek! But before we get down to business, how about this incredible autumn weather we are having the pleasure of living in?!?! Such a delight.

Now as you’ve noticed, our newsletters are jammed pack with announcements, important dates (including deadlines) and many details. In our efforts to keep you all informed we would appreciate your efforts in return, by reading through our emails in their entirety to meet deadlines and ensure no students or parents miss out on any exciting MHSPA happenings.

Saturday, November 26th — ORDER DUE DATE

The price is right, the teas are a delight, and your contribution helps keep the studio’s future bright!!!

Packages have been sent home this past week, so check those dance bags.  More are available at the front desk! The tea will be in before Christmas. What a perfect stocking stuffer!

We have seen full orders forms being handed in already! One detail we missed mentioning was to accept ONLY CASH. This is very important, as cheques will greatly compromise the arrival of the tea due to the time consuming processes that accompany cheques.

Tickets will be available online at and at the Esplanade box office.

DRESS REHEARSAL will take place at the Esplanade, as well. All Tini & Mini Bopper students are required to attend BOTH, the Dress Rehearsal and the Saturday performance, as they are the stars of the show! Hair, make-up (if you wish) and costumes are required for the dress rehearsal and the performance.

If your child attends any of the following classes, they are required at dress rehearsal and are in the show:

3:30 – 4pm        3 yrs Intro to Dance

  • Saturday, December 10th at 2 pm

Every December we put together a Christmas performance showcasing our Tini and Mini Boppers. This will take place at the wonderful Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre. We invite everyone to come enjoy the show, even if your child is no longer a Bopper, come support!

Students are to arrive between 1-1:30pm before the show and will be escorted into the backstage area to their assigned dressing room. Parents are not allowed in the backstage area, so make sure they are dressed and ready to go when you drop them off and we will take care of the rest. Even if your child is in more than 1 dance, we have them taken care of. A running order for the show will be emailed out and posted in the studio, so you will know which costume to come dressed in first. Be sure to label everything! We will have plenty of parent and student volunteers with activities and games to keep them busy. All of the students are expected to stay backstage for the duration of the show… think of it as a day at daycare or school, except in fancy costumes! Please send them with a snack and water bottles. The only exception is for our 3 year olds, after they have performed those parents are allowed to have your child sit on your lap for the rest of the show. Make sure they come backstage 3 dances before the end so they don’t miss their bow!

Again, parents are not allowed backstage. Once the show is complete and each performer has been gathered along with their things, they will be escorted out to the same place they were dropped off at earlier and matched up with whomever is to collect them.

OUR FLOWER SHOP will be providing flowers for purchase, conveniently in the lobby of the Esplanade, to help make this day extra special for your little performer! You can also pre-order bouquets by calling Cheryl at the shop 403-580-4030, and they will be brought to the Esplanade the day of.


VOLUNTEERS: Christmas Extravaganza & Spring Fever

As always, our volunteers are the reason why our shows are so successful. Without them, the show simply cannot happen. Volunteers are needed for the Friday dress rehearsal and Saturday performance. Though your child may not be a Bopper anymore, it gives the parents of those that are an opportunity to see their little stars perform their hearts out on stage… your volunteering means the world! We also encourage our older students to sign up with you as well. :)

  • Tuesday, November 15th – Sign up sheets posted

Volunteer sign up sheets are posted on the front desk.

Dress Rehearsal – This schedule is broken down into time slots considering the run of the show and quick changes for the students. If you’d prefer to volunteer for the time(s) when your child is to rehearse, please make sure you triple check which class your child is in and the time slots. Volunteer sign up is first come first serve. We are looking for 2 parents per class to help out.  This is a closed rehearsal, which means only the students, parent volunteers and teachers are permitted into the theatre.

The Show – We will need volunteers in the dressing rooms, to escort the performers to their dressing rooms and to help back stage. Specific details on how we run this all will be sent via email to all volunteers the week of the dress rehearsal and show.


DVDs of Christmas Extravaganza 2016

Monday, November 21st — Pre-Ordering Available

Forms to pre-order a DVD of the show will be available on the top of the studio’s front desk.  They can be purchased by cheque, made payable to RJF Productions, or in cash for $25. These will also be available to order at the show.

We invite you all to help brighten the holidays for other families in our community by bringing in unwrapped gifts for newborns to 17 year-old kids. We will have a box set up in the studio for these items that are sure to bring some big smiles over the holidays this year. We all at MHSPA thank you in advance for your donations.


TINI-BOPPER Winter Session 2017 Registration

*** This is for Intro to Dance and Intro to Groove classes ONLY***

  • Now until Saturday, December 3rd — registration open to existing Tini-Bopper’s

Registration is now open for all currently enrolled Tiny-Bopper’s who wish to continue with us for the remainder of the season. This session runs from January to May and includes our year end recital, when the entire school performs their routines they have all put so much time and hard work in to! Not to worry though… we do split them all up over a few shows. J Existing tiny-bopper’s spots will be held until Saturday, December 3rd, after this date registration opens up to our wait lists and the public.  There is no re-registration fee, if you are continuing in to the winter session, in which the invoice will include the tuition fee(s) for the class (es) and the costume fee(s). To complete registration, please visit the front desk during our office hours, which are posted on the studio’s front door and front desk or on Saturday, December 3rd from 10 am to 12:30 pm. If you have already signed up for the entire season, there is no need to worry about any of this… unless your little one maybe has a friend that would like to join their dance class?!?! Saturday, December 17th from 10 am to approx. 2 pm

All Tini & Mini Bopper’s will have their group and individual photo(s) taken. Please mark this day off on your calendars to ensure attendance. We will be sending an email out to the Bopper families in the next couple weeks with further instruction and the photo shoot schedule.

Regular Mini-Bopper classes will still be happening this day and remember it’s the beginning of our PAJAMA WEEK so bring your PJs to change in to after your pictures have been taken!

CHRISTMAS BREAK (Friday, December 23rd, 2016, to Friday, January 6th, 2017)

  • Thursday, December 22nd, 2016 — final day of classes
  • Saturday, January 7th, 2017 — classes begin



We have received some inquiries for competition details and at this point we only have the dates of the competitions. Once we receive the specifics from the competitions personnel and organize the information as it pertains to our dance school, we will email it all and post it in the studio. Typically, we receive this information closer to March.

  • Dance Extreme Festival in Banff, AB, from Wednesday, April 26th to Friday, April 28th, 2017.

For those travelling to Banff and looking for accommodations, the competition website has made mention of a discount at the Banff Aspen Lodge. Here is the link… Accommodations and travel arrangements for this festival are your responsibility.

  • Shy-Ann Dance Festival in Medicine Hat, AB, from Sunday, May 7th to Wednesday, May 10th 2017.

Students and instructors have been working hard to put this all together! For some students this will be their first time on stage, for others it’s so amazing to see how they have grown and how the moves seem to get a little easier. Thanks you for all your support, and with your co-operation we look forward to having another fabulous Christmas Extravaganza for everyone to enjoy!
