Good day MHSPA families !!!

With a tremendous beginning to the season, your team at MHSPA wants to start off this newsletter with a huge THANK YOU!!! We appreciate the ongoing support and commitment from the students to parents to siblings to extended family and friends and to all of the volunteers that make the season such a success. Thank you for being a very big part in it all!

As classes have settled and everyone is getting in to the groove, we have some very important information for everyone! Again, though not everything in this newsletter may apply to your family, please give it a good read. If any questions and such arise by the end of it, please email Miss Whitney at [email protected].

There is a decent portion of this newsletter that the students are responsible for. Having them read this over OR.. to you.. may just be a darn good idea too!!

Be Ready –> At this point, everyone is quite familiar with the class start times and what is expected of them. To keep the nice flow and transitions happening, students should be ready to walk in to their class with an appropriate dance appearance — attire, footwear and hair. Tappers… please take extra caution of the common area floor as it serves to be rather slick with the Tap shoes. The alternative is to put your shoes on during attendance once in the studio.

Attendance –> Attendance of students is of the utmost importance. If this is ever foreseen as becoming an issue, please contact us immediately. Also, should a student not be able to make it to class(es), parents need to be the one to call or email us along with the reason. Having other students inform us on behalf of another is not a practice we want to become the norm.

DVDs –> If you didn’t have a chance to pick your DVD orders of past performances, you can do so by asking at the front desk. They are just so much fun to watch over and over and over again!!!

MHSPA Clothing –> Clothing order forms will be available at the front desk, on the top right corner, Monday, October 17th, 2016. This announcement will be made to the students in class, as well. We have the same line up as last season with a couple additions… that I am CRAZY excited about! Sample sizes will be available in nearly every item so please make sure they are tried on before the final decisions are made. All orders are DUE Thursday, October 27th, 2016, to the front desk. Payment must be made in full with cash or EFT. If choosing EFT, an attachment to your existing EFT Agreement will require completion, please visit the front desk during our office hours.

Temporarily Extended Office Hours –>
We will be extending our office hours, temporarily, for everyone to make Competition Fee payment arrangements. This is required for ALL competitive students. Your invoice will arrive in your inbox by the end of this weekend, if it hasn’t already. If you can make any of the day time hours, this will help ease traffic influx during class times and would be super appreciated! These payment
arrangements must be completed by Wednesday, October 26th, 2016, at 7 pm,
if not — late fees will apply.

Mon. Oct. 17th     9 am to 11 am & 3:30 pm to 7 pm
Tues. Oct. 18th     9 am to 1 pm & 3 pm to 5 pm
Wed. Oct. 19th     9 am to 11 am & 3 pm to 7 pm
Thurs. Oct. 20th   9 am to 11 am & 5 pm to 7 pm
Mon. Oct. 24th     3:30 pm to 7 pm
Tues. Oct. 25th     9 am to 1 pm & 3 pm to 5 pm
Wed. Oct. 26th     8:30 am to 10:30 am & 3 pm to 7 pm

Halloween Dress-Up Week –> Monday, October 24th to Saturday, October 29th, 2016. Students are welcome to come dressed up in a costume! We will be doing some dancing so make sure they can be mobile. We’re looking forward to seeing all the costumes and to take a little break from working hard on our dancing to have some extra fun!

The Eve of HALLOWEEN –> As many inquiries and thoughts from parents, students, and the MHSPA team have arose, we have decided to NOT have classes on Monday, October 31st. These classes will be made up that Friday, November 4th, 2016Classes will run at the same times they do regularly on Monday’s. 

Christmas Extravaganza 2016 –> Our annual Christmas Extravaganza showcasing our Tini and Mini Bopper students, only, will be held at the wonderful Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre on Saturday, December 10th, 2016, at 2 pm. Dress Rehearsal will take place at the Esplanade, as well, on Friday, December 9th, 2016, from approx. 4 pm to 8 pm. All Tini & Mini Bopper students are required to attend BOTH, the Dress Rehearsal and the Saturday performance, as they are the stars of the show! Tickets will be available online and at the Esplanade box office on Monday, November 21st right throughto Saturday, December 10th, 2016.

Volunteers for our Christmas Extravaganza’s & Spring Fever’s –> As always, we will need volunteers for dress rehearsals and performances. Sign up sheets for the Extravaganza will be posted at the studio in November and more details will be sent in the next newsletter. Without volunteers, the shows simply cannot happen. Though your child may not be a Bopper anymore, it gives the parents of those that are an opportunity to see their little stars perform their hearts out on stage… your volunteering means the world! We also encourage our older students to sign up with you as well. :)

Solo/Duet/Trio Rehearsals –> For those students who have requested to do a solo/duet/trio, your consultation with your choreographer should now be complete. Over this coming week, the choreographers rehearsal schedules will be posted on the big RED board. We asked that you book a minimum of three rehearsals by the time we break for the Christmas holidays.

Competition Dates –> This season we will be attending the Dance Extreme Festival in Banff, AB, from Wednesday, April 26th to Friday, April 28th, 2017, and the Shy-Ann Dance Festival, here in Medicine Hat, from Sunday, May 7th to Wednesday, May 10th 2017. More details regarding arrivals, expectations and schedules will be emailed out once we receive the information from the competition organizers. Accommodations in Banff for the Dance Extreme Festival are your responsibility. We will communicate any accommodation specials, etc. we are made aware of, if any.

EFTs –>We hope everyone is enjoying our new payment option of the Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) as much as we are! Along with it came a relatively minimal learning curve (wahoo!) and I wanted to send my appreciation of your patience with any hiccups that may have occurred. More streamlining ideas are brewing in conjunction with this for next season. If you need to make changes, including banking information, be sure to contact Miss Whitney at [email protected], asap.

Emails from MHSPA –> All important information will be sent through our operating system, Jack Rabbit. If you choose to opt out of our mass email list you will miss out on important information.  You can still check the website,, or postings on the information board in the front entrance of the studio. However, I would strongly suggest using this option to stay informed. Please notify us if you would like to change the email address we have linked to your account.
